This week Bike People founder Matt had the pleasure of sitting down with Ellen Wade, a longtime downtown Indy cyclist, Bike Partier, & working professional.

In addition to getting to know Ellen a bit, we talked about riding downtown Indy’s one-of-a-kind Cultural Trail, Ellen’s mountain biking, her biking while traveling, and a knarly crash at bike party years ago when the ride first began. We also learn she was hit by a car while riding the Cultural Trail, and Matt shares his story on getting hit. It was a lot of fun speaking with Ellen for the podcast, she has a peaceful presence that made our chat seem easy, and we’re thankful she took the time to share her cycling story with us.

Bike People would like to thank our friends and neighbors Digs for inviting us into their magical space to record this week’s episode. In addition to being a family-run local business, Digs makes a point to engage their community by hosting several amazing family-friendly public events throughout the year, including a Mexican Independence Day Celebration, a Fourth of July Party, and their Fall Fest which just happened last weekend. Digs and their parent company Heath Outdoor cruise what is arguably the most spectacular float in every year’s Pride Parade on Mass Ave. Digs is downtown’s only full-service garden center, and most recently opened a stunning indoor rentable event space called The Green Room, which is the most recent addition to rentable spaces on their beautiful grounds. Digs also features a really cool indoor plant shop where we recorded this podcast. Just when we thought we were safe from cats crashing the set, we were visited by shop-cat Mr. Digglesworth, who made his presence known very shortly after rolling began. (I don’t really know his name I just made that up.) We relocated here last minute as our ill-conceived plan to record in an active construction site at the future shop space proved too noisy. Maybe next time we’ll shoot from the shop.
We hope you enjoy this week’s chat with Ellen Wade!
-Matt
